Grow Group Meeting Dates and Times:
What are Grow Groups?
God created humans to be in relationship to him and to each other. In fact, part of being in the “image of God” is being in community (Gen 1:26-27). The sins of our first parents (Gen. 3) and our own (Rom. 3:23) have made true relationship and intimacy with God and each other impossible. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus God is reconciling all things to himself (Matt. 1:23, Col. 1:20), saving a people for his own pleasure and purpose (Luke 22:19-20, Rom. 12:4-5, 1 Peter 2:9-10), and re-creating humanity and all things (2 Cor. 5:17, Eph. 2:15-16, 22, Rev. 21).
Believers are brought into the household of God (John 14:1-4, 1 Tim 3:15) and together are the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12) and the Temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16, Eph. 2:15-16). The community of Christians exists to love one another (Rom 13:8), help each other understand (Col. 3:16, Heb. 6:1-3), serve one another (Gal. 5:13, Phil. 2:5), encourage and care for one another (1 Thes. 4:18, Heb. 3:13), and reach out together (Matt. 28:19-20, 1 Peter 2:9, Heb. 10:24). In other words—community is not only an assumed part of the Christian life, but an essential, crucial, central part of what it means to follow Jesus.
The bottom line is that we need community in order to be who God has called us to be, and do what God has called us to do. At Pine Ridge Fellowship, we call community on this level Grow Groups.
